Hawaiʻi-ANA Stands in Support of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ 2026 Immunization Schedule
Hawaiʻi-ANA is proud to announce our official support for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2026 recommended immunization schedule. We join over 200 organizations nationwide in a unified statement to reinforce the importance of evidence-based vaccine recommendations for children and adolescents.
As nurses, we know that vaccines are the foundation of a healthy community. By standing with the AAP, we are reaffirming our commitment to the gold standard of pediatric care and the safety of our keiki.
Key Messages for Our Members and Community
The AAP’s recommendations are designed to help children in the United States build immunity against serious diseases so they can stay healthy, and our communities can stay healthy. As you engage with patients and families, please keep these key points in mind:
- Evidence-Based Protection: The AAP continues to recommend routine immunization for RSV, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, rotavirus, flu, and meningococcal disease based on the latest scientific evidence.
- Strategic Timing: The recommended timing of vaccination is specifically designed to work with a child’s developing immune system.
- Reducing Risk: Because it is impossible to predict which children will become seriously ill from these diseases, skipping or delaying vaccines remains a significant risk.
- The Pediatrician Partnership: We encourage all families with questions to talk with their child’s pediatrician. Working together, parents and healthcare providers can make informed decisions about a child’s health.
Resources for Your Practice
To help promote vaccine confidence, the AAP has developed several resources and graphics, including the 2026 child and adolescent immunization schedules. These tools are excellent for patient-facing materials, websites, and physical signage in your clinics or offices.
We encourage our members to visit the AAP’s Vaccine Confidence Campaign toolkit to find evergreen messages and resources to support your conversations with families.
Hawaiʻi-ANA remains dedicated to ensuring that every child in our islands has the opportunity to grow up healthy and thriving through the power of nursing and evidence-based care.
